It’s preventable, yet it keeps happening-pedestrians are being killed or injured at an alarming rate in California and across the country.
It’s easy to point the finger, but the truth is that drivers and pedestrians must work together to put a stop to these accidents and our responsibility is to educate them about pedestrian safety.
During the entire month of September, California Pedestrian Safety Month, WPD officers will focus their enforcement on drivers and pedestrians breaking traffic laws.
Here’s what they’ll be looking for:
-Speeders
-Drivers making illegal turns
-Distracted driving
-Failing to stop for signs or signals
-Failing to yield to drivers or pedestrians
Remember, Pedestrians Don’t Have Armor!
