The Spirit of Watsonville 4th of July Parade is a huge part of our community. As we prepare to celebrate this year we need community members to join forces with us to continue this beloved tradition in an enjoyable and safe manner.
For 150 years, in one shape or another, the Spirit of Watsonville 4th of July Parade has been part of our community. The powerful notion that on that day we celebrate the independence and freedom in the United States of America certainly, inspires people to willingly invest their resources, time and energy to gather and enjoy a colorful and diverse parade. The Watsonville parade displays thousands of participants; businesses, non-profits, youth groups, and other associations and thousands of spectators lining Main Street historic downtown. For over two hours, groups rave our patriotic colors, commemorating our traditions and liberties. I believe; “ the annual “Spirit of Watsonville 4th of July Parade” brings together our community, bonds our sense of belonging to this great nation.
This long standing patriotic community event is only possible through the generosity and collaborative work of people who, render their volunteer services” said Tony Roman, Watsonville Recreational Supervisor, who has worked as parade lead staff for the past 5 years. With the support of hundreds volunteers, throughout the years the parade has endured though times of war and economic hardship.
As we prepare to celebrate this year we need community members to be able to join forces with Watsonville Parks and Community Services Department to continue this beloved tradition in an enjoyable and safe manner. We invite you to become a volunteer parade marshal.
We need volunteers all day from 10 am to 4:30 pm. For more information you can call: Tony Roman (831) 707-8182 or (831) 768-3266.
