[ARCHIVED] Support the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

LIHEAP intake

The City Council at its August 29th City Council Meeting approved the Resolution supporting adequate funding of the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).  The President is proposing to eliminate LIHEAP from federal funding, which is the primary Federal program providing assistance to low-income households to pay high heating bills.

In 2016, in Watsonville, the LIHEAP Program services delivered by Central Coast Energy Services, Inc. served 3,506 persons in 930 households with $373,388 in total payments.  41.48% of these households avoided an impending disconnection of gas or electricity with this payment.
