The City of Watsonville, along with many other jurisdictions in the country, are in need of major investments to modernize and upgrade infrastructure ensuring reliable and efficient services now and for the future. We serve over 65,000 customers throughout Watsonville, Corralitos, Freedom and the Pajaro Beach Community.
Our City’s water and sewer mains are in need of repair and must be replaced to minimize breaks, service disruptions, and water loss. In Watsonville we have 177 miles of water lines, 100 miles of which are over 50 years old. Similarly, half of our water sources (wells and reservoirs) are also over 50 years old. Additionally, the City is in the process of closing its landfill and looking into new ways to divert our solid waste.
The City's Commitment To You

Dedicated staff operate and maintain nearly all of the City’s infrastructure while providing many of the City services that residents use on a daily basis. Despite the challenges, the City is committed to keeping rates low while addressing mandates and critical infrastructure needs. City staff is actively pursuing grants to help cover some of these costs.
