[ARCHIVED] Candidate filing for Watsonville City Council Districts 3, 4, 5, & 7 opens July 18


Those interested in running for Watsonville City Council Districts 3, 4, 5, & 7 can begin to set up an appointment with the City Clerk to become a candidate starting this Monday, July 18, 2022.

Please keep in mind that you must make an appointment with the City Clerk to pull papers and discuss the requirements for qualifying as a candidate. Call (831) 768-3040 or email to make an appointment.

 City Council Candidates

The purpose of the election is to elect City Council Members for the Watsonville City Council for full four-year terms for Council Districts 3, 4, 5, & 7.

In order to run for office, a candidate must have been a resident and a registered qualified voter in the City of Watsonville and of the district, they wish to represent for at least 30 days before the nomination period opens. The nomination period opens on July 18, 2022, and closes on August 12, 2022.

Candidate statements are available for public examination for 10 calendar days immediately following the filing deadline for submission of those documents. During this period, any voter of the appropriate City District, or the elections official, may seek a writ of mandate or an injunction requiring any or all of the material in the statement to be amended or deleted.


Aquellos interesados en postularse para los Distritos 3, 4, 5 y 7 del Concilio Municipal de Watsonville pueden comenzar a solicitar los documentos requeridos para calificar como candidatos a partir de este lunes 18 de julio del 2022.

Tenga en cuenta que debe programar una cita con el secretario municipal para obtener los documentos y analizar los requisitos para calificar como candidato. Llame al (831) 768-3040 o envíe un correo electrónico a para programar una cita.

Candidatos al Concilio Municipal

El propósito de la elección es elegir miembros del Concilio Municipal para el Concilio Municipal de Watsonville por períodos completos de cuatro años para los Distritos del Concilio 3, 4, 5 y 7.

Para postularse para un cargo, un candidato debe haber sido residente y un votante calificado registrado en la Ciudad de Watsonville y del distrito que desea representar durante al menos 30 días antes de que se abra el período de nominación.
