  • Never use near dry grass or flammable materials
  • Never point or throw fireworks at another person
  • Have a bucket of water and a hose handy
  • Under no circumstances should children be allowed to handle any type of fireworks

The fire department will also be deploying units to help Watsonville police officers with fireworks enforcement.

Those who are caught igniting or in possession of illegal fireworks will be fined $1,000 per violation. Tenants or property owners will also be cited if there is evidence that illegal fireworks were at the property, were sold at the property, or were set off at the property.

Illegal fireworks can be reported through the Watsonville Police mobile app or by calling 831-471-1151.
