Captain Donny Thul is a native of Hollister, CA. He graduated from Hollister High School in 1997 and is incredibly proud to be a "Haybaler"!
Donny first experienced police work as Police Explorer (Cadet) for the Hollister Police Department in 1993. In 2002, the Watsonville Police Department hired him as a full-time police officer. The Hollister native has served as a Patrol Officer, a Traffic Enforcement Officer, a Corporal/Field Training Officer, and Detective.
In 2014, Donny was promoted to Sergeant, overseeing the Patrol Division, the Professional Standards Division, and the Traffic Enforcement Unit. He also served as the team leader for our department's Crisis Negotiation Team.
Donny earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Management from Union Institute and University and recently graduated from the Sherman Block Leadership Institute.
In late 2022, Donny was promoted to the rank of Captain. As a Captain, he is currently assigned to the Community Services Division.
