On September 14, 2021, the City Clerk, by the power and authority vested by Section 1-8.02 of the Watsonville Municipal Code, proclaimed and ordered that a special municipal election be held on December 7, 2021, to fill the unexpired term of Council Member Gonzalez in District 2, ending December 2024.

Early Voting Available Starting November 8, 2021!


The City of Watsonville will be offering early voting for District 2 Residents beginning November 8 through December 7, 2021, and will be open for voting on Election Day.

The City Clerk's Office serves as a Voting Center and can issue ballots for registered voters. You may vote at:

City Council Candidates

The purpose of the election is to fill the unexpired seat in District 2 on the Watsonville City Council, ending December 2024.


In order to run for office, a candidate must have been a resident and a registered qualified voter in of the City of Watsonville and of the district they wish to run for at least 30 days before the nomination period opens. The nomination period opens on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, and closes on Monday, September 20, 2021.

Candidates' statements are available for public examination for 10 calendar days immediately following the filing deadline for submission of those documents. During this period, any voter of the appropriate City District, or the elections official, may seek a writ of mandate or an injunction requiring any or all of the material in the statement to be amended or deleted.
