Overview
The field trip reveals how the City protects our groundwater resources for the future by recycling the water that goes down the drain at home. Students have an opportunity to learn about the City’s facility and tour along side employees who are professionals in utility careers. Includes a laboratory experience with pH and microorganisms. Sponsored by Pajaro Valley Water and City of Watsonville Public Works & Utilities. Our Water Works in Santa Cruz County: A Discovery Book About Our Fresh Water Resources is available free to fifth and sixth graders and can be found online by clicking the title. Copies are also available in Spanish.

Water Resources Careers & Technology Tour
For Watsonville High School and College Classes
Overview
Students conduct groundwater testing with a hydrologist from Pajaro Valley Water, interview operators at the Wastewater Recycling Plant about their work, and witness the connection between what they study at school and how their water is treated everyday. This opportunity introduces local youth to the careers and science behind water treatment and exposes them to green job opportunities in Watsonville.

Water Sources & Water Conservation Tour
For Watsonville fifth Grade Classes
Mondays, 8:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Overview
Students learn about the simple things we can do every day to conserve this valuable resource. From the water molecule to the City’s system of wells, students gain knowledge of our water sources. On the field trip, visit the Corralitos Creek dam, water intake and the historic water filter plant. Creating groundwater models provides memorable learning. Our Water Works in Santa Cruz County: A Discovery Book About Our Fresh Water Resources is available free to fifth and sixth graders and can be found online by clicking the title. Copies are also available in Spanish.

Overview
The new and improved Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rot, Responsibility tour will take you on an engaging adventure to the City recycle center, trash museum and Science Workshop. Learn how you can save money and do the right thing when you visit the City recycling center. Become a recycling worker at the downtown Eco museo. Dissect a fossil to take home & learn about fossil fuels with the experts at the Watsonville Science Workshop. Practice separating your lunch trash into compost & recycling to realize almost nothing we use needs to be trashed! PVUSD Transportation for underserved public schools is covered. Teachers are responsible to complete all PVUSD field trip paperwork more than 30 working days prior to the field trip.
