Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Watsonville Public Library is an organization that promotes the library to the community, encourages knowledge of the functions and needs of the library, and stimulates the use of the library’s resources and services. It raises funds to augment library programs; provides volunteers for special events and projects; encourages bequests to the Friends to help the library serve the community; and promotes literacy.

The Friends group provides funds for such activities as adult and children’s programs, the annual Summer Reading Program and other special activities. It sponsors a large Reading Is Fundamental project called Pajaro Valley RIF, which gives free books to nearly 9,000 local children at multiple sites.

The Friends of the Watsonville Public Library is a nonprofit benefit corporation organized under the California Non-profit Public Benefit Corporation Law for charitable purposes. Donations to the Friends of the Watsonville Public Library are tax deductible within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
