The Public Works and Utilities Department supports the Community Development Department’s development review activities and construction inspections of public and private infrastructure and encroachment permit work. Large projects, which have the potential for generating significant traffic, are required to include traffic impact studies with their applications, which are reviewed by both PW&U staff and CDD staff. The City of Watsonville Public Works and Utilities Department has adopted Public Works Standards for street improvements, utility improvements, grading, temporary construction measures and engineering design standards. New construction plans for public and private infrastructure improvements are reviewed by Community Development Department Engineering for consistency with these standards.
Erosion Control and Storm Water Storm Water Land Development Standards
The City of Watsonville Municipal Code requires temporary measures to prevent erosion during construction and permanent storm water pollution controls and runoff limiting measures for new land developments. The Public Works and Utilities Department have adopted Erosion Control and Storm Water Land Development Standards, which define these requirements.
