Working Toward a Safer Community

National Night Out 002

Tuesday August 6th, was a wonderful evening for the many neighborhoods who participated in this year’s National Night Out.  The City of Watsonville had 21 different NNO celebrations going on at the same time.  It was a great opportunity for the police department to get out and meet people and to hear the concerns of the community.  It was also a wonderful chance for neighbors to come together for some great food, fun, and to build stronger neighborhoods.  This was a positive step working towards making a safe and clean community.

I know the Mayor, City Council members, City Manager, and Chief Solano really enjoyed going around to the events.   State Representative Alejo presented the Police Activities League (PAL) with the California State Peace award.  The Maple Street event also had the Consul General Carlos Ponce Martinez attend their event.

The police department always receives compliments when bringing out “Ellex” our K-9 and the “68” Ford Police Car.  Everyone from kids to adults enjoyed taking pictures with the car, K-9, and the mascot’s.  This year McGruf and crime pup were joined by the Santa Cruz Warriors and Aaron’s mascots.
