2016 National Night Out

On Tuesday, August 2nd , neighborhoods throughout the City of Watsonville will join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “33 rd Annual National Night Out” (NNO) crime and drug prevention event. The Parks and Community Services Department Neighborhood Services Division and the Watsonville Police Department are sponsoring our 18 th year of neighborhood unity against crime. In all, over 37.1 million people are expected to participate in ‘America’s Night Out Against Crime’. The goals of National Night Out are to increase crime and drug prevention awareness; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships.

It’s expected that 24 neighborhoods throughout the City will host this event. Festivities include  block parties, BBQ’s, DJ’s, activities for children and dance contests. We have also invited two special guests, McGruff the Crime Fighting Dog and Crime Pup who will be at hand at most of these events. Click here for a list of events and locations throughout the City.

Everyone is invited to come out and visit their nearby National Night out event and learn how they can receive emergency Nixle Alerts on their cellular phones and by email. Instructions can be found at: www.watsonvillepd.com Local government representatives, police officers and city staff will attend the different events to talk with neighbors about ways to promote a safe healthy and environmentally friendly community. Fire department crews will also visit most of the sites on their fire engines. This year Assemblyman Luis Alejo will be presenting the Annual Peace Award to Graciela Vega Cendejas. Presentation of this award will take place at the Maple Avenue site at 6:30pm.

Registration is free to all interested groups who wish to participate.
