Watsonville Sees Surge in Local Investment

downtownFor decades Watsonville, has been renowned for its beauty, rural character and local agriculture industry, its proximity to the Silicon Valley and world-‐renowned Monterey Bay attractions.  Many successful worldwide famous businesses have been growing in Watsonville for years. Some of the most innovative material and design firms in California are headquartered right here in Watsonville. Watsonville’s business-friendly government and workforce make Watsonville a great place for businesses to put down roots and grow.

This is an exciting time for our City.  Over the last few months, the City has been working with a number of property owners and developers to guide them through the City’s entitlement process and market the extraordinary opportunities that in this family‐oriented community has to offer.

In the last year, we have observed some major renovation and business development at our local airport.  We are expecting possibly 4 new hotels to begin construction in our City with a potential $90 million investment.   We have several industrial and commercial projects under construction that will bring Watsonville’s tax revenue up as these businesses start producing.  We have recently approved 181 new housing units in town and the major expansion and renovation for Salud Para La Gente, increasing access to housing and healthcare for Watsonville residents.

The City has also been investing in revitalizing its historic downtown to attract visitors, residents, and prospective business owners to take advantage of the opportunities that this one has to offer.

We are looking forward to future development opportunities that will make Watsonville a better place to live and work.

If you have any questions about business development in our City please feel free to Contact our Community Development Department at 768-3080.
