Watsonville Police Chief Manny Solano Takes Medical Leave of Absence



Watsonville Police Chief Manny Solano has taken a leave of absence effective immediately to seek medical treatment for cancer which was diagnosed after he recently underwent minor surgery.  The form of cancer that was diagnosed requires immediate and aggressive treatment that will require periods of hospitalization. His absence could last up to 6 months.

City Manager Carlos Palacios will hold a press conference on Wednesday morning, August 14, at 10:00 AM in the Watsonville Police Department squad room to express community support for Chief Solano and to announce an interim plan for managing the police department while Chief Solano is away on medical leave.

Mr. Palacios, along with Mayor Lowell Hurst and the City Council, on their behalf and on behalf of the entire Watsonville community, express their hope, prayers and support for Chief Solano and his family during this challenging time.
