Freedom Blvd. Reconstruction Project UPDATE

Tuesday, December 6, 2016 – Granite Construction is paving the northbound lanes today, Tuesday, December 6th. The side streets (Martinelli, Sycamore, Laurel, and Crestview) are scheduled to be paved on Wednesday, December 7th.

The northbound lanes will not be opened until the Martinelli intersection is paved and the valve boxes are raised to grade.

Expect traffic delays on Freedom Blvd. beginning Monday, November 28th through Friday, December 23rd as work on the reconstruction of Freedom Blvd. continues. Traffic signals between Broadis St. & Alta Vista Ave. will be placed in red flash during this time.


Phase 1:  Monday, November 28th through Friday December 9th
northbound lanes closed for duration of work (24 hours per day)

Traffic control measures will include closing the northbound lanes between Broadis Street and Alta Vista Avenue.  Traffic will be shifted beginning at Prospect Street on the south end of the project and at Arthur Road at the north end of the project limits.

Lincoln St. will be closed to southbound traffic between Freedom Blvd and Prospect St.

The following streets will be closed to all traffic at Freedom Blvd:

  • at Broadis St.
  • at Laurel St.
  • at Sycamore St.
  • Martinelli St. and Crestview Dr. will alternate closure.

All driveways that access Freedom Blvd. directly will be closed for the duration of the work.


Phase 2:  Monday, December 12 through Thursday, December 22
southbound lanes closed for duration of work (24 hours per day)

Traffic Control measures will include closing the southbound lanes between Mariposa Avenue and Broadis Street. Traffic will be shifted beginning at Lincoln Street on the south end of the project and at Arthur Road at the north end of the project limits.

The following streets will be closed to all traffic at Freedom Blvd:

  • at Alta Vista Ave.
  • at Marin St.

All driveways that access Freedom Blvd. directly will be closed for the duration of the work.

Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are encouraged to use alternate routes during this busy construction time.
