Salsipuedes Creek Levee-To Close Beginning June 24th
The County of Santa Cruz has started the 2nd phase of the Bench Excavation Project. This phase includes restoring the Salsipuedes Creek levee to its design grade between HW 152 and where it joins the river. The levee top grade has settled since its construction in 1949.
The work at Salsipuedes Creek will begin July 8 2013 and finish before October 15, 2013. During this period the levee access road, a popular hiking and jogging trail will be closed in order to protect the public from the construction. The County has set out signs informing the public of the closure.
Various tasks must be completed for restoration requiring the levees be closed from June through October. Work includes phases for clearing and grubbing top 6 inches, demolition of AC surface, excavation of keyways, fill, new AB/AC surface, and hydroseeding.
If you have questions regarding this project, call the County of Santa Cruz Public Works Department at 454-2160.
