Public Safety Career Day – Huge Success

public safety day 2

On August 9, 2014, the Watsonville Police Department and Fire Department held a career speed testing day.  The Police Department accepted 100 RSVP’s to attend the event and the Fire Department had an open invitation for people interested in the Fire side of public safety.  Seventy-five police officer applicants attended and participated in the all day event with six others interested in the Fire Department.

Forty-four of those passed the written test and moved to the physical agility test.  Out of those forty-four, forty moved forward to the oral board phase.  Once the oral board process was completed, there were ten standout candidates that will be scheduled for a more in-depth interview in the next couple weeks.  We are pleased with the turn out and results from the efforts placed into making this event happen.  WPD would like to thank the many volunteers who came out to ensure this event was successful.
