National Night Out

National Night Out

This year the City will host an array of popular National Night Out events throughout the city simultaneously. National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnership; and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

From 4-10 p.m.on August 4, residents in neighborhoods throughout Watsonvilleand across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside getting to know their neighbors and police. Many neighborhoods will host a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, visits from police and fire fighters, contests, youth activities, and anticrime rallies.

Residents will also have the opportunity to meet and talk with of their Council representatives and discuss issues in their neighborhood. McGruff the crime fighting dog will  help spread the word to children and families that they can help Take a Bite Out Of Crime.
