Grant Received from David & Lucile Packard Foundation
The David & Lucille Packard Foundation has awarded a $44,000 grant to the Watsonville Science Workshop for use over the coming two years, 2012/2013 and 2013/2014. The funds will be used to continue the Middle School Motor Toys program funded by this foundation for the past two years.
The Motor Toys program carried out by the Watsonville Environmental Science workshop at six local middle schools is an important part of our community educational impact. Middle school is a decisive time for students; if positive educational opportunities are not available for our youth at this time, many will make unwise and risky choices. The Science Workshop is uniquely positioned to offer this popular program based on projects developed over recent years. Offering these groups of students fun and concept-rich construction activities at their after-school program has a significant impact on their lives.
