Freedom Blvd. Reconstruction Project Update

Week of 10/17/16

Granite Construction will continue to remove and replace concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter at Martinelli and Crestview. The bus pad in front of the bus bench adjacent to the right southbound lane will be constructed on Thursday and Friday.

Expect delays and/or lane closures on Monday, October 17, while crews install new ducts for the traffic signal at Freedom and Martinelli intersection.

During the Freedom Blvd. Reconstruction Project, an old abandoned water main was found and the city’s Water Division crew came in and removed the old abandoned line and installed a new water main.

Freedom Blvd. Water Main Project:

  • Freedom Blvd. from Broadis St. to Alta Vista in the north bound lanes
  • Installation of 2,200′ ft. of 18″ water main
  • New isolation valves
  • Fire hydrants
  • New domestic services (as needed)

The city’s Water Division crew is finishing up by doing bacteriological and pressure testing and final tie-in’s to the system.

After completion of this project the city’s Water Division crew will move on to phase 2 of the Watsonville Square water main replacement project.
