Family Fitness Challenge Day

Fifty families took advantage of the great Monterey Bay Area weather on Sunday, September 29th, 2013 and embarked on a path towards a healthier lifestyle by participating in the First Annual “Familty Fitness Challenge Day” at Ramsay Park in Watsonville. The free event was organized by the United Way of Santa Cruz County in partnership with Jóvenes SANOS, the County of Santa Cruz and the City of Watsonville.

Familes engaged in healthy physical activities and received practical information on fun and inexpensive health and fitness resources available right here in town!

Families from all walks of life participated in at least five of the nine activities provided that included a1K walk/run, boot camp, parachute ball toss, basketball, biking, martial arts, soccer, tennis and Zumba).

Jaime Jimenez , Recreation Supervisor with the City of Watsonville said , “Everyone in the entire familiy participated. It was great to see moms, dads, grandparents and the children engaged in such a fashion.  All I saw where rosey cheeks, sweaty faces and happy smiles as the family interacted.”
