Emissions Free Police Bike

Through a grant awarded to several Santa Cruz County law enforcement agencies by the Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District (MBUAPCD), the newest two-wheeled member of the Watsonville Police Department’s vehicle fleet is emissions free and will soon be patrolling the streets of Watsonville.

Purchased in April 2014, the 2013 Zero Dual Sport motorcycle is 100% electric and arrived fully equipped with four LED emergency lights, a public address system, and siren.  While top speed (80 mph) and range (126 miles) are less than its gasoline-powered counterparts, the zero-emissions bike is very quiet and is specifically designed for on and off-road use. The welcomed addition is well suited for patrolling the levee, slough areas, parks, and at special events.   For more information, please contact Deputy Chief Robert Knill at Robert.knill@cityofwatsonville.org or 831.768.3307.
