Delivery of Holiday Tree to the City Plaza

In what has become an annual tradition, a local business owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, has donated a 30+ foot live tree to place in the City Plaza for the holidays. The donor also covers the cost to have the tree delivered, decorated and then moved and planted at Pinto Lake Park after the holidays in January.

This year, the tree will be delivered to the City Plaza on November 1 at approximately 9 a.m. Delivery of the tree will require closing one lane of northbound Main St. for a couple of hours and the closure of both lanes for approximately 30 minutes.

The November 1 delivery date will ensure Parks Division staff members have sufficient time to decorate the tree and City Plaza in time for the Holiday in the Plaza event on Sunday, December 4. This event begins at noon with the Watsonville Multicultural Celebration, which features a variety of live performances, food, and activity booths from a wide variety of cultural groups in Watsonville. Immediately following the multicultural celebration at 5 p.m., the lighting ceremony for the holiday tree will begin. This event will feature performances by local youth choirs and a visit from Santa Claus.
