David Honda Named New Watsonville Police Chief

City Manager Charles Montoya would like to thank everyone that has been involved in the Police Chief process for the City of Watsonville. His intent was to involve as many aspects of the community, City Council, and the law enforcement sector, as possible.

There are definitely big shoes to fill since the departure of Chief Solano; and part of this process was not to try to replace Manny, but to hire someone that would provide new life, perspectives, and opportunities for the City of Watsonville and the department. There were also many qualities that were looked at in choosing a new Chief to represent the community and the department, and the City Manager feels that this individual is perfectly suited for the position.

An offer of employment, contingent on background check, was made Friday and confirmed yesterday evening.  City Manager Montoya will have a formal introduction this afternoon Tuesday, March 8th at 5:30 pm in the Civic Plaza Community Room located at 275 Main Street, 4th floor announcing David Honda as the new Police Chief for the City of Watsonville.
