Banned Books Week/ Freedom to Read Week

September 21st – September 27th

Every year libraries celebrate the our Freedom to read by taking time to honor books that have been banned or challenged (petitioned for removal) from libraries around the World. We highlight them to acknowledge that not everyone has the same preferences of reading material and that everyone has the right to choose to read, or not to read, as they see fit – but not to deny the right of others to choose what they would like to read. We celebrate your freedom to read and your right to have access to information, whatever it may be.
