5th Annual Shop-With-A Cop Holiday Event

The Watsonville Police Activities league hosted its 5th annual Shop-With-A Cop holiday event on December 16, 2014.  Shop-With-A-Cop started 5 years ago when the Watsonville Police Departments Detective Bureau teamed up with the Watsonville Police Activities League (PAL) to provide an at-need family with Christmas gifts, mostly donated directly from the Detectives.

PAL Coordinator Coresta Salas expanded the program to present day, involving more police officers and more activities.  Shop-With-A-Cop 2014 provided a holiday dinner for 10 families – where police officers sat down and shared a meal with the families.  After dinner, the families along with the police officers went to Target and Shopped With A Cop.  Each family member was given gift cards to shop for Christmas gifts.

In collaboration with Targets Hero’s and Helpers program, Target also provided hot chocolate, a gift wrapping station, a discount on items purchased, as well as an additional gift card so the families can buy and wrap gifts for each other to open on Christmas day.  Watsonville PAL also stuffed a stocking for the families with goodies from our sponsor partners  (PVPSA, Parks and Rec, Teen Peer Court, Target, Celebrations, Turkey Boat, Second Street Cafe, Santa Cruz Coffee Roasting Company, Watsonville Older Timer Angels Baseball, Cassidy’s Pizza, Taqueria El Dandy ).
